Larky

Larky is the VGS in-house edition of Bazel's hermetically-sealed language, created by Google called Starlark. This language is used to run "unsafe" user-submitted code without exposing the service as a whole to possible attack and/or vulnerabilities. Starlark has Python-like syntax and is created to support the same structure of additional libraries as Python 3.9.

Developers can use the language to run user-submitted code without exposing underlying services and applications to potential attacks and/or vulnerabilities. Larky's tightly controlled runtime provides best-in-class computation functionality with a familiar, accessible language for a minimal learning curve.

You can read the VGS Larky overview for an introduction to the language and the available libraries.

What can it do

Larky allows VGS customers to not only secure data but also enhance and transform their sensitive data, without ever being exposed to it. Larky is what allows VGS to remove the need for customers to hold their data in order to run analyses or to transform it. While you can indeed perform analyses on VGS aliases, Larky allows you to bring your logic to the data instead of the data to your logic. Thus enabling you to run transformations, verifications, and other operations without exposing or viewing the data from your VGS Vault.
